This map contains information on recent crimes reported to police in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Each time you zoom in on a neighborhood or city, you will see a week's worth of reports from the most recent data available for that area. Clicking on a crime marker will open an information balloon with details of the offense.

■ Viewing crimes by neighborhood or city
Move your mouse cursor over one of the four regions in the top menu (Fort Worth, Arlington Area, Northeast or Dallas Area), then select an area from the drop-down menu that will appear. The map will zoom in on that area.

■ Viewing crimes near a specific address
To the right of the map, you'll find a SEARCH tab. Click on it and you can enter any address in Texas (although the data only cover the Dallas Fort Worth area). Click on the Search button, and the map will zoom in on the address.

■ Map controls
Zooming:  Use the scroll button on your mouse to zoom in or out. You may also use the standard zoom control slider in the upper left of the map.
Moving: Use your mouse cursor to “grab” the map by holding down the left button as you drag the cursor in any direction. You may also click on the directional arrows on the upper left of the map.

■ The CRIMES icons
To the right of the map, you'll find a list of the types of crimes that are shown. If you want to hide some of the markers, uncheck Show all, then uncheck the types of crimes you don't want shown. Checking the Show all checkbox restores all markers.

■ The SEARCH form
Also to the right of the map is a form that will allow you to zoom in on a specific address.

■ The CRIMES REPORTED TO POLICE list
When crimes are shown on the map, the same crimes appear in this list, sorted by type of offense. You can click on an item in the list, and the corresponding marker’s information balloon will appear. You may also click on a marker to open an information balloon, and the offense will be highlighted in the list.

■ Don't see any crimes on the map?
Crime markers are hidden when you zoom out too far. Zoom back in and they should appear.

■ Don't see the map?
If you have selected one of the links in the Resources menu, just select a city or neighborhood from the other menus or click Home on the main menu.
